99.9% Environment Noise Filtering

Benefiting from Hesai’s proprietary IPE (Intelligent Point Cloud Engine), ATX can identify rain, fog, exhaust fumes, and water splashes from the road. It marks them in real time at a ‘pixel-level’, filtering over 99.9% environment noise. ATX not only effectively reduces system misidentification and false triggering, but also significantly reduces the interference of rain and fog, providing intelligent vehicles with all-around safety perception.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HESAI ATX LiDAR used for?

The HESAI ATX is an automotive grade compact long range LiDAR sensor designed for ADAS, robotaxi, robotrucking, warehousing, logistics, and intelligent vehicle perception. It is built for high resolution front and wide area perception where vehicles need to detect pedestrians, surrounding vehicles, and road objects earlier.

Why is HESAI ATX important for next generation ADAS vehicles?

HESAI ATX is important for next generation ADAS vehicles because it combines long range detection, wide field of view, compact packaging, low power consumption, and automotive grade validation. It is designed for ADAS series production vehicles, making it relevant for mass market intelligent driving systems.

How is HESAI ATX different from HESAI AT128?

HESAI ATX is designed as a smaller and lighter evolution of the AT series architecture. Compared to AT128, ATX is 60 percent smaller by volume, almost half the weight, uses only 8 W power, and has a minimum surface window of 25 mm, making it easier to integrate into modern vehicle designs.

What is the detection range of the HESAI ATX?

The product specifications list HESAI ATX with 200 m detection at 10 percent reflectivity and up to 300 m maximum range, while other official sources list up to 230 m at 10 percent reflectivity. In all cases, ATX is positioned as a compact long range automotive LiDAR for earlier vehicle and pedestrian detection at speed.

Why does the 120° to 140° field of view matter in HESAI ATX?

The wide horizontal field of view matters because intelligent vehicles need to see more than the narrow lane directly ahead. ATX offers a wide field of view, with up to 140° horizontal coverage, helping detect vehicles and pedestrians in complex road conditions.

Can HESAI ATX be integrated behind the windshield or inside headlights?

Yes. The ATX can be flexibly integrated into vehicle positions such as the roof, behind the windshield, or inside the front headlights. This is important for automakers that want long range LiDAR performance without large external sensor housings.

How does HESAI ATX help in rain, fog, exhaust fumes, and water splash?

HESAI ATX uses an Intelligent Point Cloud Engine (IPE) to identify rain, fog, exhaust fumes, and water splashes at pixel level. This system can filter over 99 percent of environmental noise, improving perception reliability in challenging weather conditions.

Why is 8 W power consumption important for HESAI ATX?

The 8 W power consumption is important because automotive LiDAR sensors must fit within strict vehicle power and thermal design limits. A compact 8 W sensor can be easier to integrate into areas such as roof modules, windshield zones, or headlight assemblies while reducing thermal load.

Is HESAI ATX suitable for automotive safety and production programs?

Yes. HESAI ATX is designed for ADAS series production vehicles and has received design wins and nominations from global OEMs. The product specifications also list Class 1 Eye Safety, ISO 26262 ASIL B Functional Safety Product Certification, ISO 26262 compliant development process, and ISO 21434 compliant development process.

When should a team choose HESAI ATX?

A team should choose HESAI ATX when it needs a compact, automotive grade, long range LiDAR with wide field of view, high resolution perception, low power consumption, and flexible vehicle integration. It is especially relevant for ADAS, robotaxi, robotrucking, and intelligent vehicle platforms where compact packaging and long range safety perception must work together.
